WCHL Forum Statement:

I signed up as a candidate for mayor in July and I have been running for Mayor of Chapel Hill because I believe that I am the best candidate and I best represent the additional moderate voice that is needed to bring balance to our Town Council.

During my campaign, it has become apparent that with more than one moderate in the race, neither of us can win. With this in mind, and for the good of Chapel Hill, I have decided to end my run for Mayor.

I still believe that Matt Czajkowski cannot advance any agenda without additional moderate voices on the Town Council. So, if you wish to bring additional moderate voices to the town council, I suggest you look close at the town council candidates backgrounds, experience, and accomplishments, and choose wisely.

Unfortunately, due to timing, my name will remain on the ballot, and I would view any vote for me as a protest of what our Town Council has been doing.

Mark:  I expect you to win this race and become mayor due to the strength of the democratic party in Orange county.

Matt:  I encourage you to run the very best race you can, but be mindful that you are running against the designated mayoral candidate of the democratic party, which you should not take lightly. When you return to town council, I hope you will work to make allies with the other members and work as a team toward common visions and goals. Good luck.

Augustus:  I encourage you to do the same as I am by bowing out of the race and let these two candidates compete against each other for the good of our town.

With my closing comment, I would like to thank my family, all of my supporters, the people I have had the pleasure of meeting and my fellow candidates.

Best wishes to all. God bless you all.

Thank you.

"Moral" Candidate Press Release:

The Kevin Wolff for Mayor Campaign has never asked or implied anything about a "moral" candidate. Actually, we wonder about the motives behind such accusations.

An article appeared in The News & Observer on Monday, September 21, that implied that Kevin Wolff stated "... he never authorized a poll question about morality." That is an incorrect statement, Mr. Wolff stated that the campaign has never discussed morality period.

Kevin Wolff will not comment on strategic matters within the campaign and will neither confirm nor deny a poll. We will have no other comment and will not discuss campaign strategy with anyone outside of the campaign, including the media.

Mr. Wolff, an attorney, understands the concern over such an accusation and has provided the truth to the media. If the media chooses to alter any of these facts, they may be subject to legal action.

Request for interviews regarding Kevin Wolff’s qualifications for mayor or position on substantive issues can be directed to Steve Hill at (954) 328-2575.
